International openness is a reality at Sorbonne University: the evidence is in the images!

A successful second session for the Winter school at Sorbonne University! This year, students in the Science and Chinese program of the Pierre et Marie Cure and Paris-Sorbonne Universities were heading off to Shanghai and Suzhou to explore China. This was an opportunity for us to look at some of the images that reflect the strength and reputation of Sorbonne University overseas.

In order to open up its courses and research overseas, Sorbonne University has introduced several financial aid programs to support mobility (incoming and outgoing) of students, lecturers and researchers. Since 2014, 500 mobility grants for students in bachelor, master’s and PhD programs have therefore been awarded!

Sorbonne University has entered into a number of partnerships with prestigious overseas institutions in Europe (Fraunhofer in Germany), the Americas (CAPES, FAPERJ, CONACYT, MITACS) and Asia (China Scholarship Council - CSC). For example, the partnership program with the CSC, which has been running for five years, enables 30 Chinese doctoral students to complete their thesis in one of the member institutions of Sorbonne University and to introduce co-supervision of theses with our preferred partners in China!

In addition to grants and partnerships set up with prestigious overseas institutions, Sorbonne University relies on such overseas locations as INSEAD in Singapore and Abu Dhabi, Paris-Sorbonne in Abu Dhabi (PSUAD) and China (the Franco-Chinese Institute in Suzhou), as well as the UTC (UTSEUS) in Shanghai, and its representative offices at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with the IRD and in Singapore serve as representatives of Sorbonne University’s activities in that location.

Through a program of international seminars and incoming and outgoing mobility of researcher-instructors and researchers, Sorbonne University encourages the internationalization of its interdisciplinary research while promoting its financial aid and partnership programs in conjunction with international institutions (grants for master’s and PhD programs) as well as its collaborative research programs for longer-term partnerships.
