The COSU is recruiting instrumentalists and choir singers for the 2016-2017 season. Top-notch musical training: Sorbonne University Choir and Orchestra (COSU)

Based at the Clignancourt site, the COSU brings together 250 young instrumentalists and singers whose enthusiasm and excellence, led by Vincent Barthe (conductor) and Ariel Alonso (choirmaster), reinvigorate this quality tradition every season.

Sorbonne University’s Choir and Orchestra benefits from solid, close partnerships with the Pôle supérieur d’enseignement artistique of Paris Boulogne-Billancourt, a member institution of Sorbonne University, and the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. They perform in exceptional settings, some of which are rarely open to the public, such as the Sorbonne’s Grand Amphitheater (a historic monument since 1975). The enthusiasm of Sorbonne University’s Choir and Orchestra has led it to develop numerous activities, allowing it to travel to meet its audiences. In particular, it offers chamber music concerts and open rehearsals.

The COSU’s main objectives are:

  • To welcome students into high-level ensembles.
  • To ensure that there is a quality program linked with the educational, cultural and scientific policy of Sorbonne University.
  • To conduct its musical activities not just in a Parisian university setting, but also nationally and internationally.
